CUBE MAZE is an offshoot of the development process of project: tRust
CUBE MAZE is a simple 2D drag 'n' drop interface for creation of 3D tunnels to explore.
Every cube is 5x5x5 and contains a tunnel section. There are different shaped tunnels:
The Basic 5: tunnel, corner, t-junction, crossroads, dead-end.
Additionally there are tunnels with holes in the floor and/or ceiling, for use as traps, ladders and (floating-platform) lifts. Additionally there are larger sized rooms, chambers, and tunnels.
The Cube Maze is full of teleporters, traps, monsters, useful items, and environmental puzzles.
THE GAME
The default setting is SCIENCE FICTION inspired by feudal Japan.
Cube Maze expands infinitely in all directions.
You begin [someplace].
You must explore.
You must survive.
Survival means hunting. Survival means planting. Survival means activating electronic equipment, recharging power cells, placing energy-fields, repairing anti-gravity lifts, platforms and vehicles. Survival means exploring, discovering, tunneling, constructing bulk-heads and barriers, tools and weapons. Climbing, dropping, jumping. Making Allies and trading. Fighting and avoiding Enemies.
There are three types of Enemy: Monsters, Savages, Rival Tribes.
TRIBALISM
Tribes are collectives of people who have banded together to improve their chance of surviving. Many Tribes have established Villages. To access better resources, you will become involved in the functioning and protection of a Village. Everybody has a task; failure to complete that task results in the Tribe falling apart. Through this; problem solving at a social level is introduced into the game. Villagers comprise of AI who require help in their tasks; and other players.
There are four aspects to this game:
- Zone creation (from 2D maps) - inside your computer
- Exploration mode (Random Maps) - inside your computer - can be ported to your mates computers.
Community Modes (online mmorpg) :
- Wild Mode - working together with other players from around the world to build your Tribe and secure its Holdings against Enemies.
- Tame Mode - upload your custom maps into the mainframe for others to enjoy and explore.

TECHNICAL
Each Cube contains not only physical data (the shape of the tunnel) but also Conduit data (we do not see this but it can be accessed through in-game HUD menu's). For example, Cubes contain data regarding pipes for electricity, water and oxygen; so that these Life Support systems can be controlled by players and the respective elements pumped around the environment. Thematically this occurs within the walls. As a control interface it means we can considerable alter the habitat, especially combined with bulk-heads to create air-locks, flooded sections and so forth.
As players explore further and discover THE EDGE - they realize the Cube Maze is not infinite but exists as a deep space station. That is has limited resources and that oxygen and food must be grown and harvested, that compost must be collected, that poisons exist due to alien monsters infesting the environment, all becomes a part of the gameplay.
